FAQs
How is Sugaring Different from Waxing?
Sugaring is different from waxing in a few key ways:
Sugaring uses a natural paste with no resins or chemicals.
The paste is applied at room temperature, so there’s no risk of burns.
Sugaring removes hair in the direction of growth, making it gentler on the skin and reducing the risk of ingrown hairs.
How Long Do the Results from Sugaring Last?
On average, sugaring results last 3-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. With regular treatments, hair regrowth slows and becomes finer, allowing you to enjoy smooth skin for longer periods between appointments.
Can I Get Sugared While on My Period?
Yes, you can still get sugared during your period. Just make sure to wear a tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment. Keep in mind that your skin may be more sensitive, so taking a pain reliever beforehand can help ease any discomfort.
How Often Should I Get Sugared?
Sugaring is most effective when done every 3-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. Over time, as your hair regrows slower and finer, you may find that you can go longer between appointments.
Will My Hair Grow Back Thicker or Darker?
No, your hair will not grow back thicker or darker after sugaring. In fact, with regular sugaring, many clients find that their hair grows back finer, softer, and in smaller amounts.
What Should I Avoid After My Sugaring Appointment?
For 24-48 hours after your sugaring appointment, avoid activities that could irritate your skin, like hot showers, saunas, swimming, or intense exercise. Your pores will be open and your skin will be more sensitive, so it’s important to let it recover in a calm environment.
Does Sugaring Hurt?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most clients find sugaring to be less painful than waxing. Because the sugar paste sticks only to the hair and not to live skin cells, there’s less pulling on the skin, making the process more comfortable. Plus, the hair is removed in the direction of growth, reducing the usual tugging.
Is Body Sugaring Safe for Sensitive Skin?
Yes! Sugaring is gentle on sensitive skin because it doesn’t adhere to live skin cells, only to hair and dead skin cells. The sugar paste is made of simple, all-natural ingredients that are safe for most skin types, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin.
Can I Get Sugared While Pregnant?
Absolutely! Sugaring is a safe and natural method of hair removal during pregnancy. However, it’s best to wait until you're about 3 months into your pregnancy before starting sugaring sessions. Due to hormonal changes, your skin might be more sensitive, which could make the process feel a bit more intense than usual. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to reach out before your appointment, and we’ll make sure you're comfortable and prepared.
How Long Should My Hair Be for Sugaring?
For the best results, your hair should be about 1/4 inch long (the size of a grain of rice). This usually means waiting about 2 weeks after shaving or 4-6 weeks after your last sugaring or waxing session.
Can Sugaring Cause Permanent Hair Removal?
While sugaring won’t make hair disappear overnight, regular treatments can lead to reduced hair growth over time. With consistent sugaring, many clients notice that their hair grows back finer, softer, and in some cases, in much smaller quantities.
Can I Sugar if I Use Retinol or Chemical Exfoliants?
If you’re using retinol or other chemical exfoliants, you’ll need to stop using them at least 30 days before your sugaring appointment. These products can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation during the sugaring process. If you've had a chemical peel or microdermabrasion, wait at least 7 days before sugaring.
How Long Does a Sugaring Session Take?
Depending on the type of sugaring session typically lasts 30-60 minutes depending on the length of your hair and whether you’ve been shaving or waxing. Maintenance appointments are generally quicker, lasting around 20-45 minutes.
Can I Exfoliate Before My Sugaring Appointment?
Yes! Gentle exfoliation 48-72 hours before your appointment helps remove dead skin cells, allowing the sugar paste to grip the hair more effectively. Just be sure not to over-exfoliate, as irritated or raw skin can make the process uncomfortable.
